Adrián Luis Leonés Gil

Adrián Luis Leonés Gil graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Cádiz where he collaborated with the analytical department for three years. He followed it with a bachelor’s in Biotechnology at the same university, joining the research group on wine fermentation where he developed his bachelor’s thesis.

Moving to Madrid he completed a master’s degree in Polymers before embarking on a PhD at the Spanish National Research Council where over the next four years he studied the use of biodegradable PLA-based nanocomposites in biomedical applications and published 14 peer-reviewed papers.

His research focused on the biodegradation rate of PLA-based nanocomposites into simulated body fluids as well as their bioactivity in terms of hydroxyapatite growth with the aim of using these materials as bone implants. His work also demonstrated the antimicrobial activity against both gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria.

Adrián says becoming an Angels consultant is a new challenge and a chance to grow both personally and professionally. Above all it is an opportunity to use his knowledge and enthusiasm to help improve outcomes for stroke patients.
