Desislava has a bachelor’s degree in Molecular biology and a master’s degree in Genetics and genomics from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, Bulgaria. During her studies, Desislava has been working as a Research investigator in the Department of Immunology of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
Her research has been focused on targeting influenza A peptide via genetically and protein – engineered chimeric molecules. For her diploma thesis preparation, she spent one semester at the University Of Nantes, France to develop a new approach for multiple myeloma treatment. She presented her work in various scientific conferences and has been awarded for her poster presentation at the National congress of Immunology in Bulgaria.
Before joining the Angels Initiative, Desislava has been managing projects in the field of the personalized medicine and more particularly – projects for companion diagnostic in oncology, she has also worked on a validation study and clinical trials.
Desislava has always been interested in science communication and believes that even 5 minutes is enough for the most complex concepts to be explained. Following her passion for presenting science in an exciting way, she has become a National finalist at the world’s biggest science communication competition – FameLab.
Being an Angels consultant allows Desislava to combine her scientific background and her experience in project management in order to improve the stroke treatment in her country. Her motivation is the great impact that the project can have on the life of many people and their families.
