Lorenzo received his degree in Pharmacy from the University of Siena, Italy. The passion for medicine and pharmacology started early and he joined an international PhD program across the University of Siena and the University of Basel, Switzerland, where he studied the link between inflammation, angiogenesis and cancer.
His research looked at potential new Receptor Tyrosine Kinases (RTKs) signaling pathways that help cancer cells to growth, disseminate and become resistant to therapies. As a results of his findings he has published a number of peer-reviewed papers in international journals, attended international meetings and giving presentations.
Lorenzo decided he wanted to expand his knowledge within translational and clinical research, therefore he undertook a Post Doctoral position focusing on a multicenter trial concerning the application of OMICS to solid and liquid biopsy for personalized cancer therapy.
After spending his postdoc, he decided to direct his professional career to a corporate environment. Therefore he started working as Product Specialist/ ISF, within this role he could combine the scientific expertise and presentation skills facing new challenges and developing business acumen. Working in a cross-functional way with marketing, R&D, commercial and regulatory divisions enabled him to obtain additional insight on the work that is being conducted in a pharmaceutical company.
Moreover, Lorenzo has continued broadening his experience in Medical/Pharmaceutical management as he attended and obtained an executive master in medical affairs.
With the aim to actively contribute to patients' quality of life and improve the quality of treatments, Lorenzo become an Angels Initiative Consultant with the mission of improving stroke treatment in Italy.
