Dr Silvia Nica is head of the largest emergency department in Romania, at the University Emergency Hospital Bucharest and the head of the Emergency Medicine and First Aid Discipline at Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Bucharest. She is the national coordinator for RES-Q, and one of four ASLS trainers in Romania. Dr Nica has been an important collaborator with Angels from the outset, bringing with her a deep understanding of the country’s pre-hospital and hospital emergency systems, and a passion for training and education. In recognition of her commitment to quality stroke care she was nominated for a Spirit of Excellence Award in 2024. Dr Nica combines medicine with her love for the violin. She plays alongside her husband and son in the Romanian Doctors’ Orchestra, and has performed with the European Physicians’ Orchestra.
