ANGELS INSIGHTS MONTH

In South Africa’s Western Cape province, a district hospital is first across the line in the WSO Angels Awards, bringing evidence-based stroke care to a community at risk.

The idea that success breeds success is born out by the story of Netcare Alberton Hospital, which was barely a year old when it became the first in the Netcare group of private hospitals to receive international recognition for stroke care.

The staff at this hospital in southern Poland had witnessed outcomes for stroke patients who’d been unable to access treatment in time. Now their determination to be part of the change was summed up in the words of the local ambulance chief: “Whatever you need, we will do it!”

“The Angels community is a place where you will find more. More support, more ideas, more sharing, and ultimately better results,” writes Jan van der Merwe in his introduction to the spring edition of The Angels Journey, now a digital insert in the European Stroke Journal.
